We couldn’t bring ourselves to put plastic or PVC mouths masks against our nose and skin. Even cotton masks likely contain GMO, pesticide and formaldehyde in them, not stuff you’d want to breathe into your lungs all day. So we created these organic hemp face – mouth masks, which have become so protective and useful to us and our customers in many different ways over the years (we started making them in 1997). Coronavirus update 2021: We are shipping most masks within hours of ordering.

The US government, the CDC, and many cities, states and countries around the world officially recommend or require the use of cloth fabric face covering in public to help flatten the curve and minimize community infection.

CNN: The reason the CDC said at the time that people who don’t have symptoms don’t have to wear masks was to reserve the supply of masks for medical professionals. People wondered “why are masks good for healthcare workers but not for the public”?

“Trying to avoid mask shortages for healthcare workers appears to have been the main priority of those arguing against the widespread use of masks. But while the motivation behind this may have been good, such advice may have actually helped spread the virus, thus adding to the number of patients overwhelming hospitals.”

“One of the reasons the CDC’s Refields gave for potentially changing the guidance on masks is that the coronavirus can be spread when people are asymptomatic, and therefore having everyone covering their faces – as has been the norm in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia since January – could help rein in transmission.”

From Science Magazine, which interviewed George Gao, Director-General who oversees 2,000 frontline employees at the Chinese Center for Disease Control: “The big mistake in the US and Europe, in my opinion, is that people aren’t wearing masks. The virus is transmitted by droplets and close contact. Droplets play a very important role – you’ve got to wear a mask, because when you speak, there are always droplets coming out of your mouth. Many people have asymptomatic or presymptomatic infections. If they are wearing face masks, they can prevent droplets that carry the virus from escaping and infecting others.”

Care: Best to submerge in boiling water for half a minute to disinfect and hang or lay flat to dry and steam iron as needed.
